Reliability at the Top of Europe

The Jungfrau Railway is widely regarded as one of the most spectacular and iconic railway lines in the world. For more than 100 years, it has transported visitors from Kleine Scheidegg through breathtaking alpine scenery up to the Jungfraujoch – the “Top of Europe” – which is home to Europe’s highest railway station at an impressive altitude of 3,454 meters above sea level. This unique route combines tourism, engineering excellence, and tradition in one extraordinary experience.

Operating such a railway at high altitude is no simple task. Extreme environmental conditions such as freezing temperatures, low air pressure, snow, ice, and long tunnel passages pose significant technical challenges on a daily basis. Every component used along the line must meet the highest standards of reliability and durability to ensure safe and uninterrupted operation, regardless of the harsh alpine environment.

At the heart of this demanding application are our CVS RPO compressors. For many years, they have been playing a crucial role in providing reliable compressed air supply for the Jungfrau Railway. Even under the toughest conditions, they deliver consistent performance, ensuring that critical systems function smoothly and efficiently at all times.

The oil-injected RPO rotary vane compressors are specifically designed to handle challenging environments like these. They stand out thanks to their robust construction, high operational reliability, and ability to perform consistently in extreme cold and at high altitudes. In addition, their long service life and minimal maintenance requirements make them an ideal solution for applications where access can be difficult and downtime must be kept to an absolute minimum.

We are proud that our technology contributes to the safe and reliable operation of this remarkable railway. Being part of such a unique and prestigious project highlights not only the performance of our products but also our commitment to engineering excellence in even the most demanding conditions.
